A little bat caught mid-flight, wings stretched wide open. This free Halloween bat coloring page keeps the body small and round and gives most of the paper to the two big wings — which means one easy shape for small children and a lot of room for older ones to add patterns.
Who this page is for
Ages 3–8. The wings are drawn with clear finger-bone lines inside them, so a four-year-old can fill each section a different color and end up with something that looks deliberately designed.
Bat facts to share while you color
- Bats are the only mammals that truly fly — everything else that glides is just falling with style.
- A bat’s wing is really a hand. Those lines inside the wing are its finger bones, stretched out under thin skin.
- Most bats eat insects. A single small bat can catch over a thousand mosquitoes in one night.
Make it an activity
Color it, cut around the wings, tape a thread to the back and hang it from a doorway. Three or four at different heights turn a hallway into a bat cave for the price of one sheet of paper each.
How to print it so it looks great
