A tall crooked house with a pointed roof, shuttered windows, a bent chimney, bats circling overhead and a small ghost looking out of an upstairs window. This free haunted house coloring page is the most detailed sheet in our Halloween set.
Who this page is for
Ages 6–11. Roof tiles, window frames, planks, bats and the sky all need separate decisions — this one takes a while, and it is meant to.
Things to talk about while you color
- The classic haunted house look comes from Victorian architecture: tall, narrow, lots of towers and pointed gables.
- Old houses genuinely do make noise. Timber expands in the day and contracts at night, which is where most creaking comes from.
- Nothing in the drawing is actually frightening once you name it — count the bats and the ghost with your child and the house gets friendlier.
Make it an activity
Decide before starting whether it is midnight, sunset or a foggy morning, and color the sky first. Everything else follows from that one choice, and two children doing the same page end up with completely different results.
How to print it so it looks great
Choose Fit to page on A4 or US Letter, at full size — the roof tiles and window bars close up if it is scaled down. For fine detail work, this paper comparison is worth two minutes.
More Halloween pages to color
Fill out the scene with the spooky tree, the flying bat and the ghost, and hang a spider in its web in the porch. The whole set is on the Halloween coloring pages page.
