A bat asleep the way bats actually sleep: upside down from a branch, wings folded around itself, feet gripping the bark. This free hanging bat coloring page has one long branch across the top and one compact bundle of bat underneath.
Who this page is for
Ages 3–7. It is one of the simpler pages in the Halloween set — few separate shapes, all of them generous, and a branch that is satisfying to color in one long stroke.
Bat facts to share while you color
- Bats hang upside down because their legs are too light to launch them from the ground. Dropping into the air is easier than taking off.
- Their feet lock closed without using any muscle, so a sleeping bat cannot fall off.
- A roost can hold anything from a handful of bats to several million, all hanging the same way.
Make it an activity
Turn the page upside down before coloring. It is a small trick that makes children look at the shapes rather than the idea of “bat”, and the results are usually neater.
How to print it so it looks great
Choose Fit to page on A4 or US Letter. If marker ink shows through the back of the sheet, three quick fixes here.
More Halloween pages to color
There is a flying bat to go with this one, plus the spooky tree and the owl. Everything lives on the Halloween coloring pages page.
