This free roaring dinosaur coloring page shows a T. rex with its jaws wide open, a row of pointy teeth, a striped belly and spikes down its back, standing on a grassy hill with a couple of rocks nearby. It’s a little more dramatic than our smiling dinosaurs but still drawn in a friendly, rounded style.

Who this page is for

Ages 4–8. Great for kids who’ve moved past “cute” and want something that looks a bit fierce, without being scary. The mouth and teeth are a fun spot for careful coloring.

Dinosaur facts to share while you color

  • Scientists don’t think T. rex actually roared like a lion. It may have made a low rumble you’d feel more than hear, a bit like a crocodile.
  • T. rex had about 60 teeth, and if one broke, a new one grew in.
  • Its sense of smell was excellent — the part of the brain for smelling was unusually large.

Make it an activity

Count the teeth together before coloring, then practice the dinosaur’s “gentle roar” — a whisper roar is a good way to keep a classroom from getting too loud.

How to print it so it looks great

Choose Fit to page and print on A4 or US Letter. Regular copy paper is fine for crayons; for markers, a slightly heavier sheet stops bleed-through — see which paper works best.
