Who this page is for
Ages 2–6. This is the page we hand to the youngest colorers: the egg halves are huge, so even a toddler with a chunky crayon can fill them in and feel finished.
Dinosaur facts to share while you color
- Dinosaur eggs came in lots of shapes — some were round like a ball, others long like a loaf of bread.
- Fossil nests show that some dinosaurs laid their eggs in neat spiral patterns.
- Baby dinosaurs had an “egg tooth” on their snout to help crack the shell, just like baby birds today.
Make it an activity
Before coloring, ask: what color should a dinosaur egg be? Nobody knows for sure, so spotted, striped and purple are all correct answers. Afterwards, cut along the crack line so the top of the egg lifts off and the baby “hatches.”
